Rocky River Recreation offers group swim lessons for children of all skill levels. Lessons focus on water safety, confidence, stroke development, and comfort in the water.

Find the Right Swim Level
Choosing the right swim level helps your child build confidence, stay safe, and make steady progress. If your child has taken lessons with us before, we recommend registering for the next level listed on their most recent swim report card.

Parent & Child (6 months–5 years)
Parent participates in the water.
Great for introducing young children to the water.
Swim diapers are required for children who are not potty trained.
Preschool Level 1
Ages 3–5
First group swim lesson or nervous around the water.
Preschool Level 2
Ages 3–5
Comfortable in the water and ready to build basic swimming skills.
Preschool Level 3
Ages 3–5
Comfortable putting face in the water and ready for more independent swimming.

Level 1 – Introduction to Water Skills
First swim lesson or uncomfortable in the water.
Level 2 – Fundamental Aquatic Skills
Comfortable in the water.
Can float and begin basic swimming movements.
Level 3 – Stroke Development
Can put face in the water.
Can float independently.
Ready to learn coordinated strokes.
Level 4 – Stroke Improvement
Comfortable swimming in deep water.
Building endurance and stroke technique.
Level 5/6 – Stroke Refinement
Strong swimmer.
Comfortable treading water for at least two minutes.
Able to swim multiple lengths of the pool using several strokes.

If you're unsure which level is the best fit, our staff is happy to help. Registering for the correct level helps ensure your child has a safe, successful, and enjoyable experience.
Children who need individualized instruction or are not yet ready for group lessons may benefit from Private Swim Lessons.

Whether you're a former competitive swimmer or simply looking to improve your technique, the Grown Up Swim Team offers a fun, supportive, and challenging environment for adult swimmers of all abilities. Participants will work on stroke technique, endurance, and fitness while enjoying the camaraderie of training with others. Registration begins August 31st.

Beginning April 1st, 2026, Fairview Park residents will be able to purchase an outdoor pool pass at the non-resident (affiliate) rate, without being sponsored. Please bring an ID with your Fairview Park address and a utility bill to match.
All memberships are sold in person only at the Civic Center Welcome Desk.
