As the Fourth of July approaches, the City of Rocky River encourages everyone to enjoy the holiday while prioritizing safety as we honor our nation's independence. Fireworks are a beloved tradition, but we ask that you leave the handling of them to licensed professionals in the area.
It's important to remember that Rocky River Codified Ordinance Chapter 1519 prohibits the possession, discharge, ignition, or explosion of fireworks within city limits. Although state law under Ohio HB 172 permits some use, Rocky River opted out of these allowances by passing Ordinance 24-22 on May 23, 2022, to protect the safety of residents and property. Therefore, no fireworks are allowed in public or private spaces without the appropriate licensed exhibitor permit. Fireworks pose serious injury risks and can ignite fires, especially in densely populated neighborhoods. If you witness any violations, please report them to the non-emergency police line at 440-331-1234.
Let's celebrate responsibly, ensuring our community remains safe and respectful for everyone, including pets and those sensitive to noise. Wishing you a happy and safe Independence Day!
