Memorial Day Ceremony
Monday, May 25 at 10:00 a.m., the Joint Veterans Council of Lakewood and Rocky River will hold a Memorial Day Ceremony at Lakewood Park Cemetery, 22025 Detroit Rd., Rocky River, to honor our fallen heroes. The Rocky River High School Marching Band, several local scout troops and community representatives will also participate in the morning's tribute.
For the second year in a row, we will have a ceramic poppy field set up in the cemetery during the ceremony. The poppy flower has become a national symbol of remembrance dating back to WWI. The ceramic poppies were handcrafted by our very own Rocky River Senior Center Ceramics Class. A ribbon and name tag have been placed on each poppy representing a Rocky River fallen soldier.
We look forward to this year's Memorial Day events and programs and encourage all residents to take time to be a part of this important remembrance of our fallen men and women who have defended our freedoms. There is ample parking across from the cemetery at the Rocky River Presbyterian Church. Seating will be available on a first come, first served basis.
Flag Placement on Veterans’ Graves
Saturday, May 23 at Lakewood Park Cemetery, 22025 Detroit Rd, Rocky River, beginning at 8:30 a.m., community members are encouraged to join members of the Joint Veterans Council of Lakewood and Rocky River and other volunteers in placing more than 4,000 American flags on the graves of veterans who have been laid to rest at the cemetery.

Friday, May 22 at City Hall Park Gazebo Located at 21012 Hillard Blvd beginning at 6:00 p.m., the Rocky River High School Jazz Band will be performing. Bring a lawn chair and come enjoy the kick-off of the Summer Concert Series.
Public Information Meeting - Lake Road Water/Sewer/Pavement and Bradstreet's Landing Auxiliary Parking Project
The City of Rocky River will host a public meeting at 6:30pm on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at Memorial Hall in the Don Umerley Civic Center, located at 21016 Hilliard Blvd, to discuss improvements to Lake Road as part of the Lake Road Watermain, Sewer, and Pavement Improvement Project. These critical improvements will provide upgrades to deteriorated sewers, watermains, and roadway (including curbs, aprons, and curb ramps) while also addressing multimodal transportation with the addition of an off-street multimodal trail on the north side of Lake Road. The project will also include the addition of an auxiliary parking lot for Bradtreet’s Landing and pedestrian safety measures to cross Lake Road.
The City’s consulting engineer, Mannik & Smith Group, Inc., representatives from OHM Advisors, and the city administration will discuss the proposed roadway changes and other elements of the project.
Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to attend, learn more about the project, and provide input. For this project to be successful, clear communication and coordination with residents is essential, and we strongly encourage your attendance.
If you have any questions or are unable to attend and wish to provide input, please contact Rich Snyder, Director of Public Safety-Service, via email to rsnyder@rockyriverohio.gov.
We look forward to seeing you at the meeting.
