Parklane Drive Water Main Replacement

The new water main has been installed, and all testing and sampling of the new line has been completed.  New catch basins have been completed as well.  Work to connect houses to the new water main will commence Monday, May 12th.  Following completion of the private water connections, we will move into the pavement restoration phase of the project.  This will consist of full depth concrete work followed by asphalt overlay.  Please continue to exercise caution while traveling through or adjacent to the work zone.

Bradstreet’s Landing Park Bathrooms

The new bathroom building at Bradstreet’s Landing is nearing material completion.  The bathroom is expected to be open to the public in the near future.  An update on its opening will be shared with the public as soon as possible.

2025 Street Repair Program

The 2025 street repair program will include Higley Rd., Wright Ave., Prospect Ave., and Elmwood Park, and a portion of the Rocky River Service Garage.  This project consists of curb ramp upgrades, casting adjustments, curb and apron installation where needed, and asphalt resurfacing.  Work is expected to commence in late summer/early fall.

2025 Community Sidewalk Rehabilitation Program

Inspections are ongoing on the streets between Center Ridge Rd. and the Fairview Park border (except for select streets off Wooster Rd., south of Center Ridge Rd. due to a planned gas main replacement project by Enbridge) to determine any sections of sidewalk that are not in compliance with the Rocky River Municipal Code regarding sidewalk maintenance.  Adjacent property owners will be notified of any deficiencies through mail and will be required to replace sidewalks that are not in compliance with code if the issue is not caused by a public utility or tree lawn tree.  The City will be removing and replacing sections of sidewalk that have become unsafe due to tree lawn tree conflicts, storm/sanitary sewer lateral conflicts, and/or conflicts from other public utilities.  If you live in this section of the city, please be on the lookout for correspondence in the coming weeks and months.  Should you have any questions please contact the office of the Director of Public Safety-Service at (440) 331-0600.

2025 Crack Sealing Program

Personnel from the Rocky River Streets Department have completed crack sealing on the following streets and areas: Kings Mill Run, City Hall campus, Martin’s Park parking lot, Martin’s Way, Mitchell, Kramer, Morewood Alley, Chatham, Colonial Court, Hilliard, and E. Asplin.  Crack sealing on S. Island and Riverdale will follow.  Crack sealing on Detroit will be completed later this year by a private contractor.  Road striping on Detroit and Lake (between Elmwood and the Beachcliff marginals) will take place after all crack sealing has been completed.

Cleveland Yacht Club Bridge

Bridge repair work is ongoing.  One lane of the bridge is open.  Please exercise patience and follow signals when traversing the bridge.  Both lanes will be open by the end of May.

Elmwood Park Baseball Fields

Work on the fence and backstops of the baseball fields at Elmwood Park is complete.  The replacement of the scoreboards is ongoing.  Concrete work in the dugouts will be taking place over the next two weeks.  The installation of new bleachers will follow.

Buckingham, Arundel, Argyle Oval Sewer/Water/Repaving Project

Work to replace water lines and sanitary and storm sewers on Buckingham, Arundel (north of Beachcliff), and Argyle Oval (from Frazier to Buckingham) is expected to commence in late summer/early fall.  The project will be advertised for public bidding starting May 16th, 2025.  Further updates will follow.

Glendale, Westmoor, Orchard Grove Sewer/Water/Repaving Project

Work to replace water lines and sanitary and storm sewers on Glendale, Westmoor (south of Hilliard), and Orchard Grove is expected to commence in the fall.  Further updates will follow.

Rockcliff, Kensington, Frazier Private Inflow/Infiltration

The City of Rocky River, in partnership with AECOM, will be dye testing properties on these streets to identify sources of inflow and infiltration of water from private properties into the sanitary sewer system.  This testing will be conducted at no cost to individual property owners and is necessary to reduce the volume of surface water into our sanitary sewer system that can and will cause basement flooding during heavy rain events.  Property owners on these streets will receive direct correspondence from the City with more information.

Wooster/Shoreland Park

Design is being finalized for the park at the intersection of Wooster and Shoreland.  Construction is expected to begin in the fall.  Rendering and plans will be available to the public in the near future.

Rocky River Park Sidewalk and Catch Basin Project

This project entails installing a catch basin and new curb on the west side of the parking lot at Rocky River Park to aid in protecting the hillside from water infiltration off the parking lot between the pavement and curb. The catch basin will drain under the parking lot to the bioretention basin in the center of the parking lot for infiltration.  The plans for the project were reviewed and approved by representatives from Cuyahoga Soil and Water Conservation District.  Work is expected to commence next week.  Please exercise caution and maintain a safe distance from the construction zone for the duration of the project.
