Big Boy No. 4014 Steam Locomotive

In celebration of America 250, Big Boy No. 4014 will be rolling through Rocky River, full steam ahead, on Monday, June 8th as part of the America 250 historic cross-country tour.  It is the largest and only operating steam locomotive in the world.

The train is currently expected to depart Lorain, Ohio eastbound at 11:30 am and will arrive in Euclid at 1:30 pm.  Rocky River should see its arrival approximately between 11:45 am and 12:00 pm. Please note that times are approximate.  It will not be stopping at this time.   

Big Boy’s 4014's return trip through Greater Cleveland will take place on July 13, where she'll stop in Rocky River at the former Rocky River Nickel Plate train station located at 19060 Depot St. from approximately 1:00 pm - 1:30 p.m.   The public is welcome to come and view Big Boy at that time, but please note that parking and space is limited. The schedule is subject to change and Big Boy may operate ahead or behind the posted schedule. Twenty-Five Big Boy engines were built during World War II - designed to haul heavy freight over the steep grades of the Wasatch Mountains between Utah and Wyoming - eight survive today and only No. 4014 is still in operation today.
