In reference to Dolly Parton’s famous song, “9 to 5”, Governor Dewine has declared September 25, 2026 Dolly Parton Day. This is a celebration of the incredible impact Dolly made in the lives of millions of people around the world through her music as well as her philanthropic efforts.
Dolly’s impact extends far beyond the stage, especially through her Imagination Library, which has gifted millions of free children’s books to children under five every month at no cost to families. Dolly encouraged us all to “dream more, care more, learn more and be more”. Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Ohio sends children one free book each month until his or her fifth birthday. We invite our residents to recognize September 25th as Dolly Parton Day. In honor of Dolly Parton Day, and Dolly’s commitment to children and early literacy, we are asking that you donate and drop off new and gently used children’s books at the ClevelandKids’ Book Bank’s Rocky Riverlocation, right outside the Don Umerley Civic Center (Memorial Hall) located at 21016 Hillard Blvd, to the right of the entrance. The Cleveland Kids’ Book Bank’s mission is to encourage literacy and the love of reading by giving free books to children in Greater Cleveland in collaboration with community partners. You can also donate and drop off children’s books at the Rocky River Public Library located at 1600 Hampton Road.
