The City of Rocky River would like to thank residents, businesses, and visitors for your continued patience during the ongoing Center Ridge Gateway and paving project. We recognize that current conditions along the roadway have been challenging, and we appreciate your understanding as this important infrastructure work progresses.

Due to the significant amount of time since the last major rehabilitation of Center Ridge Road, multiple layers of asphalt have accumulated over the years. In order to properly restore the roadway, crews must mill through these layers to reach the underlying concrete base. This process allows for a thorough evaluation of the concrete and identification of any areas that may be deteriorated and in need of repair. These repairs are essential to ensuring the long-term durability and safety of the roadway.

Beginning Wednesday, April 8th, the contractor will start placing the intermediate course of asphalt. This phase will greatly reduce the difference in elevation between the travel lanes and the work zones, improving access and making ingress and egress to local businesses smoother and safer. To minimize traffic disruption, this work will begin at 5:00 a.m. each day and is expected to continue through Friday, April 10th.

Following placement of the intermediate asphalt layer, the project will move into concrete repair work, including curb repairs and adjustments to catch basins and manholes where necessary. Once this phase is completed, traffic will be shifted to the curb lanes to allow milling and reconstruction of the inner lanes to proceed.

Throughout the project, the contractor is responsible for maintaining access to all businesses, including the use of temporary asphalt ramps where needed. If you encounter areas where access is inadequate or experience any vehicle damage, please contact Director of Public Safety Service Rich Snyder at rsnyder@rockyriverohio.gov. All concerns will be promptly forwarded to the contractor for review and resolution.

We appreciate your cooperation as we work to improve this vital corridor and enhance the overall infrastructure of our community.
