As students return to school, please remain alert and use extra caution while traveling. Please be sure to:
Watch for students traveling by car, school bus, bicycle, or on foot.
Obey posted school-zone speed limits and restrictions on turning right at a red light.
Stop for school buses as required by Ohio law. Please review the school-bus stopping rules below.
Watch for and yield to pedestrians within crosswalks.
Follow the directions of school crossing guards.
Do not pass a vehicle stopped at a crosswalk to allow a pedestrian to cross.
Pedestrians should cross streets at marked crosswalks whenever available and obey all traffic signals and pedestrian-control devices.
Before entering a crosswalk, pedestrians are required make sure it is safe to cross and should never step suddenly into the path of a vehicle that is too close to stop safely.
At crossings equipped with a Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB), pedestrians should activate the beacon before crossing, allow approaching motorists sufficient time to see the flashing lights and come to a stop.
Confirm that traffic has yielded before stepping into the roadway.
