USS Cleveland Commissioning

THE USS CLEVELAND

The City of Rocky River invites you to witness history as a new naval vessel, the USS Cleveland joins the fleet. This is the first time that a ship will be commissioned in the city it was named for. We invite you to witness the Flotilla on Saturday, May 9th, 2026 as it makes its way from Wisconsin to the Port of Cleveland.

We ask that residents come out and join in the festivities of watching the ship make its way along the shoreline of Lake Erie passing by Bradstreet’s Landing and Rocky River Park at approximately 10:00 am. Please arrive early as the times can change based on the weather.

Due to limited parking at our Lakefront park, we encourage residents to walk or ride a bike to the parks.

We will have approximately 500 free Honor Flags at each park to pass out to everyone to keep on a first come first served basis to waive and welcome as the ship passes by the parks.

Please note, if you previously purchased a USS Cleveland flag from the USS Cleveland Legacy Foundation website as part of their fundraiser, you will need to go to Rocky River Park where a volunteer from the Legacy Foundation will be on site that morning to deliver those to you.
