National Public Works Week

May 17-23, 2026

Rooted in Service, Powered by Community

National Public Works Week is a time dedicated to recognizing the outstanding contributions of those who keep our city running smoothly, safely and sustainably – our deeply valued Rocky River Service Department – Streets, Sewers, Refuse, Parks, Traffic, Mechanics and Wastewater Treatment.

Service Department employees are often the unsung heroes of a community and their efforts touch every corner of our daily lives.  They are out early, stay late, respond swiftly to emergencies, and work through all kinds of weather to ensure that our streets are safe and clean, our infrastructure is sound, refuse is collected efficiently, our equipment is in good working order, and our neighborhoods are well-maintained – from the roads we drive on, to the parks we enjoy, and everything in between.  Together these efforts form the foundation of thriving communities, reminding us that every project, seen or unseen, powers the connection between service and the people it supports.

To our Service Department employees – thank you!  Your commitment to excellence, your tireless service, and your quiet, but powerful impact does not go unnoticed.  You are essential to the quality of life we enjoy in Rocky River.

This year’s theme – Rooted in Service, Powered by Community, acknowledges that the roots of service run deep in every community.  Our Service Department, our public works professionals, are innovators, problem-solvers, and dedicated public servants who take pride in building a better community for all of us.

Let’s all take a moment this week to thank and recognize our Service Department professionals.  Their work may often be behind the scenes, but their contributions are front and center to advancing the health, safety, beauty and vitality of Rocky River.
